ASUS announces an ROG Academy for E-sport Fanatics in India

Asus Republic of Gamers, world’s leading gaming hardware manufacturer, has recently announced an ROG Academy, to bolster PC gamers, in India. The goal of this initiative is to help PC gamers sharpen their skills and prepare them for national and international competitive e-sports tournaments.

Gamers will be selected via a screening process. The ones who are selected, will be registered in a variety of programs that will help them prepare for the higher tiers of the competitive e-sports scenario. This program will also help in creating a much-needed healthy environment in India, that will support and normalise gaming.

The official press release by ASUS stated: “With an increase in E-sports gamers during the pandemic, ASUS has strengthened its commitment towards investing in the future of the gaming industry in India. It gives us immense pleasure to be the first brand in the laptop segment to introduce first-of-a- kind unique initiative like ROG Academy, empowering gamers to conquer competitions and elevating E-sports industry.”


The selection process, with one selection window per quarter, will take place in 4 sections during the year.With the aid of professional coaches and mentors, the shortlisted players will also participate in a selection process that will finalise 6 players who will go through activities that will help develop their individual abilities, team play, communication, and many other facets of competitive gaming.

Every aspiring gamer, between the age of 16-18 may register, but they will be needing consent from their respective parents. The registration is open from 1st February to 10th February 2021. Top participants from each trial will earn a stipend of INR 15,000 to assist with their cause and enrolment in their programme. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, one of the games that laid the groundwork for Indian e-sports, will be the highlight of the first quarter. The panellists will be represented by partners from ASUS ROG. Once they have successfully overcome their 3-month preparation, ASUS ROG will award INR 100,000 in winnings to all the final 6 teams.
